The Terrace Club, Mahopac
Owners Amie Cunningham and Ken Breiman (he's the former chef at X2O) have taken a Putnam County classic, the Dockside Pub, given it an elegant face-lift and yet still managed to keep that great lakeside mojo going with an outdoor bar and lounge (they've kept the outdoor dining area, too!). It's only been open about a month, and already, there's a wait for a table, so those who need to cool their heels, or just want to enjoy the cool breeze off the lake, now have the option of taking a seat at the bar, or on one of the rattan couches and chairs - which have bright red cushions - in the lounge to enjoy one of their specialty drinks (the margaritas are popular) before dinner..
Bar food: The same menu is served inside and out, but try the black angus sliders served on mini brioche buns.
